With its over-the-top visuals and off-kilter local coverage, few early punk mags hold a candle to Sluggo. Only six issues published in all, five of them in Austin. Intentionally misleading issue numbering on the cover. Despite saying #3, this is actually issue #2. Gotta love it. The Next, Ramones, Dils and all manner of Austin coverage.

The last issue from 1981 that emerged after a move from Austin to San Francisco. This swan song includes a boardgame Rocky VII , the Game of Industrial Collapse (game pieces intact). Also of note in this 1981 finale: a full-page ad for the Fuck Your Wife "death tape" from a San Antonio outfit calling themselves the Butthole Surfers. Minty condition!

With its over-the-top visuals and off kilter local coverage, few early punk mags can compare to Sluggo. Only six issues published in all, five of them in Austin. Awesome June 1981 issue of Barry Hensler's mag. Bits on Theatre of Hate, Black Flag and, of course, Necros. Tons of quality fanzine reviews, too. Worth it for the inside back cover alone: a full-page ad for Toledo's Record & Tape Exchange drawn by one Raymond Pettibon. Some wear to front cover and spotting to back cover. Only 100-200 copies made!
